When you purchase a Best of British kitten you are invited to become a part of our cat-family, whether your kitten is showing with TICA or happy just being your family pet, we are proud to share your kittens journey and progress on our website and social media platforms.
Can I visit the Best of British Cattery to view kittens before I purchase one?
It is a big responsibility ensuring our cattery stays healthy, especially when we have young kittens. Until kittens have received all 3 of their vaccines, they naturally have a lower resilience to infections and bacterial. This is why we do not allow in-person visits to our cattery. We are more than happy to do video calls, send videos and pictures of the kittens to anyone thinking of buying a BoB kitten.
What care and attention does my kitten receive from the time of birth until I take him/her home?
The care for your kitten starts before it is even born! Our breeding mommas are fed the best food, administered the correct vaccines at the right time, treated for parasites on the correct regime, monitored all the way through their pregnancy and given lots of love and attention.
Then, from the moment your kitten is born it becomes the focus of our day, every day. We do daily weigh-ins until the kittens are 7 days old and if they are gaining weight at the right rate we continue to record their weights every 7 days. This means we can check they are getting the right amount of food daily and to ensure they are getting their fair share of mommas milk! Our kittens are raised in our home receiving daily interactions and playtime.
What age do the kittens leave for their new home?
Kittens are able to leave us from 12 weeks old. By this time they are sociable, 100% litter trained, eating very well and strong and healthy and have had their first 2 rounds of vaccines (see below section for details). We do not neuter / spay your kitten before leaving the cattery. At 12 weeks or even 14 weeks we have found this to be quite an ordeal for a small kitten to go through and we believe it is best to let them grow a bit, and become strong and have all vaccines before being neutered / spayed. Our contracts stipulate all kittens MUST be neutered / spayed by their 8 month birthday at the latest, but it is advised to do this around 6 months. Once your kitten has been neutered/spayed and we receive proof from your vets (invoice is sufficient), your kitten's TICA registration paper (breeders slip) is sent to you.
What health guarantees does my kitten come with?
As detailed in our contracts, all kittens come home with a 1 year health guarantee against HCM and congenital defects. Our kittens leave having received 2 of the 3 vaccines which is a 3-in-1 combination vaccine covering Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (distemper). All details of vet visits, shots and deworming is documented on each kitten's Health Record Card which new owners receive in their kitten go-home pack.
Is my kitten registered with a breed association?
All our kittens are eligible to be registered with TICA -The International Cat Association and some also the CFA - Cat Fanciers Association. New owners are provided with the necessary paperwork to do this when the proof of neuter / spay is provided by 8 months of age.
Can I show my kitten / cat at a TICA show?
We do offer showing rights to owners who would like to attend shows and enjoy the world of exhibiting their kitten/cat. Showing rights are an additional $500. When you purchase showing rights there is no obligation to show your kitten, if you decided not to. By committing to purchasing a kitten with showing rights, you are moved to the Showing waitlist which takes priority over the Pet waitlist at the time of choosing a kitten. If you would like to be added to the showing waitlist, please let us know at the time of inquiring. Please be aware that whether you choose to have showing rights for you kitten or not, all BoB kittens are required to be neutered / spayed by 8 months.
What is the process to purchase a Best of British kitten?
Firstly we ask all potential new owners to complete a New Owners Questionnaire. We ask some basic questions to ensure you and a BoB kitten will be a good match. Once you have submitted a completed questionnaire and received a positive response from us, we will put you on our waitlist. We have a waitlist in order to secure your position inline to choose a kitten, when the time comes. People who have purchased showing rights are inline to choose their kitten before the waitlist not for showing rights.
What is a waitlist and does it cost me any money to join it?
We do not take deposits to put you on our waitlist. Our waitlist is a way for customers / clients / families to secure their spot in line to choose a kitten when they become available. Our kittens are much sought-after so we advise clients to join our waitlist to avoid disappointment. This secures your place in line to choose your kitten when the time comes. We have two waitlists; Showing and Pet. Our showing waitlist costs an additional $500 to join and takes priority choosing a kitten over our pet waitlist. We cannot guarantee a kitten of your liking will be available in the timeframe you want, this is why we do not take a deposit to be on the waitlist.
How can I move up the waitlist faster?
Our showing waitlist is not just for people who want to show their kittens. Our showing waitlist takes priority choosing a kitten over our pet waitlist. Joining the showing waitlist costs an additional $500. When you purchase showing rights there is no obligation to show your kitten, if you decided not to. Please be aware that whether you choose to have showing rights for you kitten or not, all BoB kittens are required to be neutered / spayed by 6 months.
How much does it cost to buy a Best of British kitten?
For 2026 we have decided to freeze our kittens prices at $2500. Showing rights are an additional $500. Within that cost kittens have received their first 2 vaccines and have also been on a scheduled vet-approved deworming treatment and are litter trained and sociable. For people wanting to take home 2 or more of our kittens from the same litter we offer a 10% discount.
When do I have to pay and what method of payment do you take?
When you have chosen the kitten you would like to join your family, a 50% non-refundable deposit is due. This goes towards the total price of your kitten. The remainder of the balance is due for payment at the time of collecting your kitten. We take payment in many different options. Venmo, Zelle, Cash, Check (to be received at least 7 days prior to collection). Credit card payments are possible but carry a 3.9% charge.
Are 'payment plan' options available?
We offer a weekly/monthly payment plan option for new owners to make payments before their kitten is available to take home. This is offered at no extra charge. Payments are nonrefundable if you were to change your mind on purchasing a kitten. The total cost of your kitten must be paid by the time your kitten is ready to come home. Kittens will not be released until the total cost is paid. If the kitten is ready for its new home but the total payment has not yet been met, there will be a $50/week fee for boarding fees for your kitten, until collection. To keep everything in order, we provide a separate contract for payment plans, which is available upon request.
What should I expect after I join the waitlist and how do I choose my kitten?
During the pregnancy you can stay up to date on the pregnancy progress by following us on our Facebook page, by clicking the icon at the bottom of this page. Between 6-8 weeks of age, the kittens will be ready for the choosing process. We contact the clients on our waitlist in order of priority with pictures and details of our available kittens. We do this by email but always give a txt message 'heads-up!!' We ask for a quick response due to the number of people waiting to choose. You are welcome to pass and wait for the next litter if you do not see a kitten you want. Please let us know immediately if your situation has changed and you do not wish to purchase a kitten from us anymore so as we can move on to the next people waiting. If we have tried multiple times to contact you and have had no response, we will move on to the next person in line.
Do you offer delivery/shipping options within and outside of the US?
We are located in east-central Virginia and we provide free delivery of your kitten up to 60 miles from our home in West Point, VA. We can assist with finding a nanny service if you wish. Please reach out to discuss your specific needs.
What does my kitten come home with?
All BoB kittens leave our cattery with the following items:
Kittie-go-home bag: Useful Best of British tote bag to keep all your kittie-goodies organized.
Buyers contract including neuter / spay agreement: Within your paperwork folder, you will find a copy of your signed contract.
Kitten health card: Personalized health card detailing your kittens vaccines, parasite treatments, bi-weekly weigh-ins, your kittens spay/neuter details.
Kitten toys: A small selection of favorite toys are provided to keep your new kitten occupied.
Best of British kitten blanket: To help with the transition, each kitten goes home with their own blanket which has the smells of the cattery.
30 day-free Trupanion pet insurance: You will receive a code before collecting your kitten so as you can activate your 30 day free insurance for the day you collect / receive your kitten. We recommend all our new kitten owners take advantage of this offer!
